Every year, Coenegrachts spends huge sums as an investment on the environment.
With the construction of the phase-one complex, they went all out to minimise ammonia and odour emissions. Using air-scrubbers and the biobed, ammonia emissions were reduced so effectively that there are no more environmental complaints.
We are also committed to zero wastewater disposal. All the process water from the compost and the cleaning water will be collected in a large retention basin. The wastewater will then be cleaned using a curved sieve and aerated and then reused.
As a result of the environmentally sustainable processing of rest produce such as chicken and horse manure into mushroom substrate, Coenegrachts substrate makes a substantial contribution to solving the problem of surplus manure in Flanders.
